5G Alternators

well i have finally got it sorted i went and bought a 100amp alterator from Germany this time i compared part numbers to make sure and cross all the t's.
I am sure the other alternators were for the 2.0 litre not the fully loaded 2.2 anyway now sorted

Trying to find a brand new alternator. Don't exist. Don't mind spending up to £500 like Honda charged. Bosch or Denso couldn't help.

either get your original one refurbed or get one from Honda

That's what I mean. Honda no longer sell them. And refurbed ones so far have been 90% unsucessfull at anything in life.

try getting one for a shuttle the one i have does both there may be a few crossovers

I can get an Accord Type R one brand new. But it's £530. Might have to do it.

Why not take your current one in to them for test and repair. If they're any good, they should be able to load and soak test it and repair using decent bits (if needed) and/or uprate the output for you (probably restricted by the rectifier rather than the windings)

Personally I still think it's not the alternator itself that is the cause of failing on yours, it's because it's being worked too hard, either due to extra load from the battery, the ice, condition/gauge of cabling/earths on the engine, or the additional length of the cable runs to the battery.
Have you done any exploration on those areas that were suggested before?

I remember my when the alternator went on my ek9. Had it refurbished 3 times within 8 months. In the end I opted to get a known good one from a written off one. Turned out it was an aftermarket denso one rather than a genuine Honda unit

Not had time to test yet. However the oem one worked fine. I got a reconditioned one purely because I was renewing everything.

Only since having recon altrrnators have I had the problem. All cabling is better than oem and my ice isn't even connected.

This weekend I'll do a full test.
