Yes i think thats what it means - you just clip it into place :)

Yep i pinched the idea of fitting a painted front ukdm plate holder.
But I picked the ukdm one for a couple of reasons as well as looks - imo it allows more air to the rad and a bigger contact patch for careless drivers to hit rather than damaging the bumper itself so form and function

Ive also bought some black mesh to fit behind the front bumper to protect the koyo rad from stone chips = i think i need to do this as there isnt any air con rad in front of it to protect it but looks fiddly to fit to the back of the bumper so i might have a look at fitting the mesh somewhere to the bodywork and then fit the new bumper ontop...any suggestions are wlecome :)

 That's ridiculous. My pen is full of ink. Does that mean I should call it a leak?

Good idea. If you have no condensor and drier fitted, you should be able to fix it across the front cross member ok? Attach either side, central upright and top/bottom? Might have to unbolt the power steering cooler and then refit it after.

Great thats what im looking to do but im going to leave the oil cooler in place - its never been moved and although all the fins are still in place it does look a bit rusty so best left alone

First mod I ever did to my lude was fit some mesh to the inside of the front bumper.
I carefully shaped it to fit, and secured it with just a few small skinny black zip ties, at the top/bottom of some of the vertical 'fins' in the bumper. You really cant see them when it's all back in place.
Still there 13 years later and I've never had to replace the rad 8-)

yet,

 fair point - I met washed my ukdm a few months ago and ever since then I was wondering how the cam seal was still managing to peak engine oil on the road, when I hadn't run the engine since December... Turns out I had blasted a small hole in the oil cooler

Re: BB4 The Good The Bad and The Ugly

Post by vanzep » Sat Aug 01, 2015 12:02 pm

fitted the new rear bumper and wings west lip to the lude this morning.
4 bolts, 2 screws and 2 plastic fixings and it was done :)

Not all went to plan though.....

The Good

The new bumper is on securely and looks good - should look spot on when i fit the new bootlid and the colour should be 100 percent match.

The Bad

I managed to put a crack in the bumper at one corner

The Ugly

The rust at one corner of the arch :troll: Looks like it will need a small piece welded in - will have to do it with filler for the time being.

Image

Its the usual way of the lude - 2 steps forward and 1 back (if your lucky)

Thanks to @JDM-BB4 for the free bumper ;)
