I think the arches may have had work though, just looking at the colour in a couple of pics. Not necessarily a bad thing as long as it's been done properly, certainly looks a good job at face value.
EDIT: Is the steering wheel reach adjustment right? New one on me...
thanks Bennyboy for the input, was it just the colour of the arches that jumped out or is the shape different than you'd expect??
What's people's view on the 17" wheels - standard was 14" wasn't it? Anyone else done this? - Impact on ride quality and 4WS?? Cheers
It was mainly this pic:
I may be completely wrong, but it looks as though the silver on the arch and the door are slightly different. TBH, this is usually the case with most repair jobs, in the right light at the right angle etc.... silver can tend to make this easier to spot though.
The shape looks good to me and frankly most ludes this age have had some paint at some point, it doesn't have to mean anything 'serious'. The thing is, the arches rusting are probably the single biggest reason for anyone scrapping and breaking these now, I'd say give them a real good look over and ask if they've had any work carried out.
If it HAS had work (to a good standard), it's not a reason not to buy in my opinion, maybe just to barter
Oh and I run 17's and have for years. I'd say just pick your tyre profile to suit - I recently went to 215 45 17 and they are much more forgiving of our roads.... Click on my profile in my sig and look at the last few pages for pics if you like.
Blimey - good eye sight !

see exactly what you mean now. As you say, if done to repair rusted arches then not the end of the world and saves me the job for a while - plus a negotiating point. Will check out your pics - thanks for the advice
