Well here it is... the update..
Just wrote a long story but my computer crashed

Oil pan baffle plate is in!

Front brace is done, I designed it with my frien and he made it out of SS. plate we used is very strong.
The two side supports are a bit short as initially the brace was further back but hit my turbo oil feed.

I gave it a few layers of primer/paint/and clear.

this is kinda how it sits..

I checked everything today..
Did a cold compression test : 195-195-192-195
oilpressure is a good 3 bar when crancking.
When I started it fired up straight away. Idle was very high so adjusted the throttle cable.

A friend came over , he happens to be a police officer... and he said, why not take it out for a drive?
ok.....

After double checking everything , (fans came on but were blowing instead of sucking , sorted)

I went for a run:

forgot the smooth road ended :ugeek:

At the moment the oil is drained, it looks good, no more metal flakes in the oilpan. only a very small amount in the filter. And making new brackets for the radiator as it not secure enough.
Next is new oil and sorting out the dash and lights.

till next time

Well done, glad it's looking like the engine is ok as we thought.

Some mega 're-engineering' in this build 8-)

@merlin , whats your professional opinion about the upper front brace?

Everybody seems to like it but not heard anyone say it will help enough

At work now.. Writing this in a hotel in middlesbrough
Work realy is a real annoying interruption working on my car..
Maybe I can squeeze a few hours in on tuesday..

O before I fitted my downpipe I alu taped and reflecagold my oilpan!

And if you look in the previous pics I made a small heatshield to protect my valvecover..

I didn't want to say anything as you've already painted it, but I would have gusseted the folded plate that the brace bolts to. The brace itself looks substantial enough, but the plate looks like it would flex easily.

The plate is very very hard as its 3mm SS and the forces on it won't bend it that way I think, but I see what you mean. Put a triangle or two in the corner?!

New radiator brackets done and front bumper including my painted coolingplate fitted.
Was looking for a funny sticker and kinda liked this one but decided it should not be a sticker, its reverse sprayed silver and cleared with the rest .. :D

you also may have noticed a heatshield behind my manifold, had the feeling I was cooking it..
some things are function over form.... some aren't :geek:

I think this build has reached a point where the pics should be moved to a NSFW thread
