ABS and 4WS light on??

The abs ecu is buried inside the rear quarter panel. Don't test it from there, that's unnecessary aggro, just test the sensors from the 2 pin orange plugs in the engine bay. It will be the sensor leads that have failed, not the loom part (unless your name is thebusofwoe and a mouse has been at your car!

Hi Wurley - Ok - I've found the orange connectors - now I'm trying puzzle out how to break them aprt without ruining anything!!

You press the clip in hard and then pull on the right bit of the connectors (not the looms) to pull them apart. A bit of wiggling while pulling helps. They take ages to start to move, then suddenly go

Thanks - I'll give it a go tomorrow. But tell me - if I'm getting that 4 1 error code won't the resistance test merely confirm that there's a problem with the sensor? I saw a post that taking it off and giving it a clean could be a solution before forking out for a new one. These Preludes are so unreliable - I've had this one from new in 1996 and a sensor has gone already after just 19 years!! Mind you, this is the first non-consumable problem apart from a rusty sunroof which I replaced.

Yep, they're terrible aren't they - outrageous that something like should fail after 19 years!

The theory behind the cleaning is that a build up of crud prevents the sensor from picking up the 'teeth' on the drive-shaft as they rotate past.

The resistance check will tell you if the sensor is electrically healthy or not. Cleaning has no effect on this as you say - so if it fails resistance test, then the sensor is definitively knackered. (No amount of cleaning will help and you will need to replace it...)

I had a problem with my ABS, can't remember the code but it was for the front right sensor.
After replacing it it turned out to be the plugs from the ECU were a little corroded.
Unplugged, sprayed with circuit cleaner an hey presto.
Only took me 11 months to fix haha

One of the rear sensors has gone on the Integra.
According to Honda, a replacement will cost a zillion quid and the delivery date is sometime before the next millenium.

I’m on my fourth prelude now, all of them UK 2.2vtec 4th gen manuals. All of them have previously had the ABS light on...followed by the 4WS light 50 yards after. Standard stuff for a lot of us.
My current prelude however has the ABS light coming on after 10 yards, but no 4WS light..? The 4WS is continuing to work oddly, which to me means that it’s not the usual ABS/read sensor that’s notorious for malfunctioning.

Anyone encountered the same scenario??
