Adjustable Camber Upper ball joints

Post by RattyMcClelland » Wed Jul 22, 2015 8:46 pm

Im polybushing the whole car and all my ball joints are tired and close to wearing so im replacing them all.

On the Type S, all lower 6 ball joints are perfectly replaceable.

The problem is the upper ball joints. No where seems to sell them separately from the control arms and sourcing Type S front upper control arms are £200 from Honda or import patent parts. (n/s front left has already been replaced so only need one) Rear upper arms are around £130 per side from Blueprint.

However i can buy SPC adjustable camber upper ball joints. These come in 2 varients. -1.5 - +1.5 degrees and +1.5- +3.0 degrees. for the front and rear.

These could add to some more (maybe not really needed) adjustment for alignment and might be cheaper.

Thoughts?

Rear uppers are same on 4th and 5th gen if I remember correctly, @merlin replaced his balljoints when he polybushed his 4th gen so he be best to advise what he used, only other thing I know he did was he used 5th gen rear upper arms as they have a strengthening plate on them.

Are the front uppers any different to 4g's?
@vtecmec did you change all these on yours? Where did you get all the bits from?

Yes. Unique to the Type S. Slightly longer to give more positive camber.

Personally I wouldn't go with even more negative camber on a road car. You are lowered so you are already -1 to -2 degrees?

No. It's not to gain more negative camber. It's merely to replace ball joints but these happen to be adjustable. I also might be able to put more positive camber in for less gay.

I'm raising car up 1cm anyway. It's too low. Already broke my hytech header brackets.
