Changing suspension need help????

Post by chris1811 » Mon Jul 20, 2015 4:24 pm

Guys Im in the middle of changing over my front shocks .

My new shocks have R and L on them which I assume means right and left. What is regarded as right and left when replacing shocks?

Is it from point of view of drivers seat I.e drivers side right or from view of working on engine bay I.e passenger is right??

Need help asap as can't put my wheels back on till I'm sure I'm right .

As if you were sitting in the drivers seat so R means offside or drivers side, L is kurb side or passenger side.

Are these new ones OEM or aftermarket?

I have never sided coilovers since the top mount spins on the rod of the shock. The coilovers should be identical so being on a particular side should not matter? But I am sure interested to know if they should be sided.

Cheers guys all sorted, rears were a bigger PITA than the fronts. Easy enough to unbolt but pain to wiggle out from all the arms etc haha. :)

Off course the fronts are sided. Its all to do with the brake flexi mounting points. If they were both the same one side would have flexi at the front other at the back. Coilovers like the bcs are different as its a detachable bracket so can go on either one.
