Yep, shafts are the same.
Supposedly there is a difference between the auto and manual on one side (they have different part numbers for the whole assembly) but I'm sure when I looked it up in the service manual a while ago, the only difference is a 'damper' (lump of rubber) around the outside of the shaft. Both have a damper, but one has a different part number to the other. Won't affect fitment.

Doesn't the auto lack the intermediate shaft? It is one big long shaft instead?

I have an auto one in the shed (no use to me, I just ended up with it for free)...
I suppose I'd better go and look at it
now I think about it with a clear head though, it may actually have been the 3g shafts I was looking at actually, when I was looking up what was needed for converting the blue one from auto to manual...
yep, that was it
Basically, it may be wise to ignore anything I said yesterday

Thanks guys, but these ones look the same length so should be ok? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-prelude ... 3aab07ab31
I have sent the guy selling a message, so far he has told me they are from a 2.2 import but not whether it is manual or auto

The lower one in that listing fits onto an intermediate shaft.
Merlin is right, the auto 4g's don't have an intermediate shaft. So the ones in that listing are correct.
For ref:
4g auto LHS driveshaft = 44011SS0N82 (complete - does not use a half shaft)
4g manual LHS driveshaft = 44011SS0982 (complete outer part with both joints)
4g manual LHS half shaft = 44500SS0010 (complete inner part with bearing and bearing housing etc.)
I wouldn't have liked to have to replace one of those at main agent prices...
