TBH, the original driveshafts are such good quality, a second hand one will probably last the rest of the life of the car anyway, provided it's not used as a ragged track car. :D

Thanks all :)

Lack of mechanical knowledge question, I may just do both driveshafts at the same time regardless of which one has gone. When I get a driveshaft will it come with everything I need like the cv joints? Do I need to be asking for something more specific, especially when talking to a breaker?

Driveshaft is the complete thing (shaft with both joints).
You will need to get new hub nuts from Honda and if you're doing both sides, get both gearbox seals as well.

Thanks Iain.

Is this everything I need minus the hub nuts and gearbox seals? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-prelude ... 3aab07ab31

Also, where do I find the part numbers for the hub nuts and gearbox seals? Are these things expensive. Costs are mounting :?

Hub nuts are a total swine to get off BTW. You need a 36mm socket and the biggest breaker bar you can get your hands on plus someone sitting with their foot on the brake. IMO it is the most difficult thing to get off the car after the crank pulley.

Also don't split the bottom ball joint to get the shafts out, drop the upper arms from the engine bay ;) Much easier!

Buy new set rings (number 7) to go with your shafts ;)

Yes, that's everything without changing the half-shaft.

@Merlin unless I'm missing something, the gearbox seals aren't on that parts diagram unfortunately, they're on 2 different diagrams?
Number 15
http://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_ca ... k_03=23027
And Number 13
http://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_ca ... k_03=23027

That said, if you're leaving the half-shaft in situ and only changing the outer part, then you wouldn't need the first one of those seals (the number 15 one).

Yeah all those bits are on different diagrams. I have never changed them.

Ta. Genuinely I was wondering there - having a fuzzy head day, struggled for ages just to get my head round how the shafts were actually oriented in those drawings! :? :( So really thought there was a possibility I'd missed something!

One more questions are all the parts the same across all the 4th gens? I don't know what model these shafts came off, mine is a BB1...........
