Are you going for a black lip or all red?
Ive not decided - was thinking all milano red as ive already sprayed the side skirts this colour

but then i saw pics of this kits picked out in gloss black in a post that @W1ggz put up the other day and that made me think again
so im still undecided :?

- just put the new fog light switch in which @alinton kindly sent to me - bulb was blown so i swapped it for a green bulb out of the 5th gen switch - fog lights now work :D

This was a photoshop I did years ago to give you an idea Nick...

I did a whole load of other options as well, so I'll try and find them for you.

It was back before Photobucket stuck some annoying random code on the end, so it made finding them simple :)

Re: BB4 Whiteline rear arb

Post by vanzep » Sun Jun 21, 2015 10:42 am

I was lucky enough to pick up a whiteline rear arb the other day :)
but it looked to be really rusty
I remember there being some discussion about bar diameter and some on fitment issues so i decide to have a look at the one i have here as i was going to clean it up and derust it.
Turns out it was only surface rust - so i brushed it down and repainted it gloss black.
I also have a powdercoated standard rear arb so here is a pic of the parts side by side for visual comparison.
(The oem on is nearest the camera and has some grey foam wrapped round the centre of it)

Image

Observations :geek:

both oem and whitline are same shape
measured with digital vernier calipers on various parts of the bar
bar diameter oem 23 to 23.5mm
" " whiteline 22.6 to 23.2mm

Im sure whitleine say its a 22m dia bar and i think someone on here said they had a 24mm dia bar :?
Im saying its a 23mm dia bar the same as the oem one ;) im assuming the slight difference in diameter is down to the whiteline having rusted away slightly in some areas and also the oem one has a thicker than usual oem powdercoat.

to confuse things further-
the whiteline had the original yellow mounting bushes and they are stamped as being 22mm

so its a 23mm bar with 22mm bushings

Why does the oem look wider than the whiteline one?
If they're the same diameters and shape, then the only difference could be in the ID of the bar (giving a thicker wall) or the material?

optical illusion wurly ;) they are same shape and overall dimensions. the whiteline one is at least double the weight of the oem one as the oem is tubular steel and the whitleine feels like its is a solid steel bar :)
