There is abit of play in the wheel and u can hear a rumbling noise whwn ur driving I can here it now with the 17s on it but never heard anything when 15 inch oem wheels were on I took wheel off and spun the disk and theres a point in every rotation where it catches the brakepadBludge wrote:it was the upper control arm ball joints on mine. really loud nasty knocking, and on one side it resulted in quite a bit of play in the wheel if i rocked it top to bottom. worth checking as the arms are really easy to remove and a garage should only charge a few quid for pressing the balljoints out and new oneBludge wrote:it was the upper control arm ball joints on mine. really loud nasty knocking, and on one side it resulted in quite a bit of play in the wheel if i rocked it top to bottom. worth checking as the arms are really easy to remove and a garage should only charge a few quid for pressing the balljoints out and new ones in.

If you grab the wheel and really rock it back and forth you should be able to make it knock if its the balljoint.
The brake pad thing is a different issue entirely i would hazard. possibly a warped rotor or something.

Ill need to check again mate for every symptom that its coming up withBludge wrote:if it is a constant drone/rumble then it could also be the wheel bearing. my knock was the worst on rough patches of road, cause it was causing the wheel to rock and thus making the balljoint knock. wasnt too bad if you just hit a speedbump straight on.
