That's very decent of you to say, old chap! Yes I painted them in Ford Panther Black, simply because I had a can of it, the XYL's Focus is that colour.

I've gone for a few subtle black details all round to enhance the red. I'm halfway through painting a set of 16" 5-spoke alloys the same colour right now.

Hope they'll look good!

I'm already in talks with my grandad to commander his nice double garage for a month so I can dedicate time, space and dry weather to it. Have done a few odd bushes before on other cars so am fully aware of the royal pain that they are :? . Plus I'm hoping by the time I get round to the final one I will have mastered the art. Haha

Or I'll be ready to :guns:

She's failed....
Emissions. Probably due to no cat...

And handbrake not efficient enough.

Just getting it checked out. However will need either a handy spare cat, or a friendly tester.

If it's emissions then next time wait till there's not much petrol left in the tank and put a litre or so of fuel 'enhancer' in just before you drop it into them.

That stuff burns real clean, so there'll be precious little bad stuff coming out the exhaust.

Re: Petee's Lude 4th Gen H23A - minor jobs

Post by prahunt » Sat Jul 18, 2015 5:52 pm

So I finally got round to completing some minor jobs I wanted to do but kept putting off.
All 10/15 minute things that you always say, oh I'll do that tomorrow.

Anyway, needed to figure whether my rear speaker had called it a day or if it was a wiring issue. Stripped the speakers out and then took apart the speaker itself. Bit of dust inside but nothing major. Gave it a clean, and assumed it must be a wiring issue. I'm no bright spark (haha) on wiring and would prefer to leave the big jobs to a professional but I tackled these again. Decided to make it easier I would remove any excess and just run straight to the speakers. Did this, tried them and voila. Music blasting from all speakers.
Below is a picture of said wiring I did.

I also went to tackle fitting my double din unit, however after getting halfway through removing the current unit I discovered just how well this is wired in. So I will have to call on the help of one of my mates who are better suited for those jobs.
I also refitted my front number plate. The mount I have it great, but where I had it bolted on just underneath the front bumper it would twist and tilt. So I removed it and then lowered it down to the next step and used the number plate double sided tape. This has allowed my to fit it closer as well as ensuring it is level. So no wonky number plate anymore. 8-)

I also finally got round to taking the borrowed cat off, from Ben off here. Thanks again pal :10:
It did the trick for the MOT.
Anyway here is a fun picture of my car doing a 'Nissan Juke' anyone who went to FoS or saw some footage should get that reference.

Today I wanted to clean out the throttle body a bit as she was idling slightly low, around 600/700rpm. Took the air filter and used some carb cleaner to give it a good clean. There was a bit of build up but it all came away easily enough.
I did notice as well a small crack on my intake pipe... :o just on the underside it has been taped up by the previous owner but to be fair this is a perfect excuse to buy a new one
I've been looking at getting the CDA for my Lude so I the time is now.
Obligatory engine bay shot

There should be enough room down the side of the battery, but I'm not sure... Hoping so.
I gave the bay a clean while I was there, but there's so much dust ingrained into parts. Think I may have to strip it back and visit each part separately to get her looking really clean.

Got a couple of weeks before I have a nice string of shows as well.
Revs and Rhythms - classic car show 20 years +
Sitting Pretty/JDM Register meet
Hitchin Market Autoshow
Japfest 2
Then the big one. JAE!!!

Just need to clean the car and get her gleaming again. As she is currently rather filthy

So I finally got round to getting my car clean. Just a quick wash outside and once over inside.
Taking her to Revs and Rythyms car show tomorrow. For classics 20 years or older. :D

Few dodgy phone pictures. Hopefully with the nice weather tomorrow I'll get a few better shots.

Also had my new air intake arrive today  an EBC CDA. Very much looking forward to getting some more flow into the engine. As well as some minor bits, like fixing the boot leak thanks to getting hold of the clips from @vanzep and I should know have enough clips to fit my wind deflectors thanks to @kawa

Looking forward to getting those bits done this weekend hopefully.
