Opinions on Wheel Nuts

Post by G-lude » Sun Jun 07, 2015 4:48 pm

Found myself in a bit of an annoying position yesterday when one of my locking nuts managed to shear off (not as bad as it sounds) and I just about managed to get it off!

I've recently changed wheels to some anthracite/gunmetal Ep3 type R alloys and am now thinking of replacing my oem nuts with something aftermarket.

I'm not interested in any of those Alloy/Aluminum dress up nuts as my friend had one round off where the metal was too soft.

My budget is between £30-40 and looking for something made of steel. I've got my eyes on these (I know they are a rip off of the sets which cost like £150 but they say they are forged steel so...)

Anyway opinions? Or other options in my price range which come in black or gunmetal :) Ideally want some level of security too :)

I'm after some new wheel nuts for the BB4 as well, to go on the lenzo's and meant to start a post, so well done :D

Probably after something blue for it.

All I know is I want something steel, not worth the risk IMO for anything aluminium or alloy, I guess if I could stretch my budget to about £50 you can get a set of Muteki Wheel nuts, which come in a range of different colours, and depending on what set you go with, some come with lockers too.

I bought muteki. The paint flaked off after a few weeks on the neochrome ones.

Mcgard Spline Drive n Mcgard Tuner locking nuts.
Stainless Steel. Look the same as new even after a year.

Do the lockers come only in silver? These look fairly identical to the Muteki nuts and are cheaper too...But then again you have to buy the locking nuts on top of the price of the nuts..

Is anyone who is running Oem wheels using those adaptor wheel studs to go from a ball stud to a tapered seat? Seem a little steep to charge 20 quid for those!

Dunno about colour. Cheaper didn't come into it for me. I wanted some weight as lightweight nuts are heavily overrated especially since they sit at the centre of the wheel where centrifugal forces are small but build quality from a respected brand.

Plus they add extra security. Not theif proof but good.
