Ive taken some photos so here goes:

Fog light switch. 4 pin. part number on side of switch 1 SSO M14738 HD19. part number on bottom blue connector part 1 SSO M14740. Think its a 5th gen fog switch.

Image
Mates up to three wire (6 pin) white connector which was blue taped to center console loom.
Image

Relay with stubby extension. Not 100% sure if its the right one but came off 4th gen lude.
Mitsuba RC-2201 Relay .Part number 18L.
Wire colours are: red green / blue red / red yellow / red black
Image

Stubby relay locates where cruise control goes (if you have it n i dont) 4 pin outlet connects to 4 pin brown plug on loom that was brown taped.

Any help appreciated and does anyone have switch they can loan me :)
IM thinking the 5th gen switch doesnt work but i might be wrong

Looks like we do have the relay in the wrong place Nick.

Found this http://honda-tech.com/honda-acura-28/92 ... 846/page2/ from post 27
Here are JDM infrared door handles. This system featured remote activated door locks and trunk. For models without the security system option.

(front) - Notice the little sensor on the door handle.
Infrared was only on models that didn't have the security option, this will be why the manuals say make sure you pick the correct plug  Might be that the fusebox is moved out the way to find it.

Can't comment on the relay location (not looked at it myself) but be wary of stuff that thread you linked, there are some blatent errors in it, so don't assume anything is correct - just from the bit quoted above, the 4g jdm IR locking system does not operate the 'trunk' and another pic in the same post claims that a steering wheel off another model (ITR off the top of my head?) is JDM prelude equipment...

I will have another look today.
My lude does have the infra red remote door locking so any relay needed for that would already be in place as it was operational until the key stopped working - no relay has been removed from this on my lude at any point. There is another relay plugged direct onto one of the connectors right next to where ive located the stubby relay - this could be the relay for the infra red.
Im still thinking it could be the switch thats the issue as the loom has a 3 wire (6pin) white connector and the switch i have only has 4 pins. If i could get a picture of the pins on a 4th gen switch or loan of one then that would help.

can i ask @Pushki or @wurlycorner for a pic of the pins on the bottom of the facelift fog switch and also a pic of the wire colours on the stubby extension/relay thing - if i get this i can check which of mine is faulty/wrong ;)
cheers

That definitely looks to be the correct relay and sub harness. If you're doubting the switch can you make a switch to trial it with some wire?

Looking at that last photo Pushki posted there look to be two identical connectors on that harness (Which should already be on your car). There's a chance you've connected to the wrong one, or is this what you're suggesting your IR system is connected too?
