Head gasket all torqued up correctly?
Are you testing it with a compression tester, is that definitely done up properly/sealing in the spark plug hole correctly?
Not much else it could be?
How do I check if the clearance is correct? closing properly?
rest is ok i'm sure but will double check everyting.
timing belt looks to be installed ok. I made picture for my own reference.
You'd need the cam cover off the engine to check the valves are closing correctly.
Basically if you follow the service manual on checking the valve clearances and that all checks out ok, that would tell you that they were fully closing.
If there are any where you can't get a feeler gauge in (when the engine is in the right position) then it means the valve isn't fully closed (no gap between the valve and follower).
Guys, Thank you!
It was wat you all said.. The valves...
First checked the timing and that was spot on.
Then with help of Merlin's how too (accept the measuringpoint) and a vid on youtube I adjusted the valves.
I could not even get a .005 mm feeler in. they were all open but one.
First thing was fabricating a simple tool.
It kept me up at night when I was at work so I had it all figured out in my head ..
Pipesocket, cut to size so the screwdriver has enough length. then grind it square so you can use a spanner to tighten it.
Adjusting the valves took me a little more then an hour.
I set the exhaust side to a tight 0.20mm and intake to a loose 0.15 mm
Double checked all the clearances again and if all the nuts were done up.
Didn't even check the compression.. I reinstalled everything. double chekced the oil/coolant and cables..
After turning over only ones it fired up soooooooooooooooo happy!
It sounds great and after 10 min it stopped smoking.
Will get it tuned as soon as possible but want to do it right and on a dyno. (Even breaking the engine in )
Can't get my Air/Fuel ratio right.. It keeps running rich! 11.4-11.7 even with 40 PSI. It will need at east 45 psi so don't know why..
Here are the video's:
very first start:
adjusted fuel pressure and idle:
exhaust sound with Catalyst converter instead of testpipe (can't find the damn thing anywere)
I have a straight end pipe and a dolphin tail style end pipe to fit the muffler. Won't trim or fit them yet as I have to fablicate a diffuser first.
I fitted my new AEM fuelpressure regulator. This to tidy up the intake a bit and have the fuel pressure guage on the regulator:
This is before:
Now it looks like this:
JAPFEST is in the Netherlands next Sunday. Won't be able to tune it so not going to run it but might put it on a trailer for show. I got invited on the Time Attack stand anyway !
I have lots more to do so the next two days I will be living in my garage...
A page back about brakes. I can vouch for the KSport 330's, they are awesome! I have stock rear brakes with no aftermarket bias valve fitted. Brake balance is good.
