Modded OEM radius rods.

Post by Darkam » Thu Apr 30, 2015 4:38 am

Hi there !

http://www.preludeaustralia.com/forum/s ... gen-56k-No!

Already heard/done about this mod ? I have a spare set so I'm planing to give it a shot but I wouldn't trust driving with it considering the risk if it fails...

Interesting... (and a very good write up by that man!)
I haven't heard of anyone doing that over here, although a few members have fitted traction bars, which I pressume are adjustable in order to achieve the same aim???
Redrilling the standard rods like that looks ok for road use, but I doubt they would stand up to hard track use (the metal left either side of the new holes isn't very substantial)

@merlin have you considered this?

I'd be more inclined to turn down the shaft a little further and put a thread all the way down the bar and use 2 nuts either side of the bush to control the lenght.

But I think the point of the aftermarket traction bars is to remove the bushes and they movement they cause under stress.

That would definitely be the way forward.

Nice little mod though :)

quite an interesting topic and since we are on it :)
im slightly out of tolerance on castor with 3.59 on the left and 2.55 on the right
any suggestions on how to fix this?
or are these guys saying its good to have a bit of positive castor?

I also have a couple of sets of tie rods
I like @106pete idea of turning down the shoulder of the rod to allow for more adjustment - unfortunatley i ned to go the other way i think :? :?

Goin the other way is easy as there's so much thread sticking out the front, just take it all off and add a washer but knowing the size to use will be trial and error I guess?
