On the 4th gen (yours is probably similar) it should be about 500rpm (from memory).

Unplug the IACV, turn off all the electrics, then set the idle by turning the screw to about 500ish rpm then plug it back in.

Cheers Vtec!

That was the plan after looking up on PreludePower - but they suggest 770rpm ...

Hi Wayne, With all the trouble you have gone through to try and get this idle problem fixed, you might as well keep the car once its fixed.... By the way you do know I have a 74k engine, if it doesn't get fixed and you decide to change the engine which will probably be better in the long run, you know where I am! ;)

Lol
No more garage bud soon, so with Luke park outside 24/7 365 days - it would be difficult to maintain him :(

Ref engine - lol - thanks

Well
Dry today - so opportunity to reset BASE IDLE screw on top of throttle body ...

Image

Anyway,
Left it in P - it rev up/down between 1000-1500rpm
Pop bonnet
Remove IACV plug - it stopped rev up/down and settled on 1100rpm
Engine vibrated a bit until it settled to a smoother hum...

Turned BASE IDLE screw....
That screw was soooooo lose, had to turn it about TEN times!

As screw tightened and settle at 600-700rpm, I stopped ...

And...its all good :D :Hello:
Nice just need a good week of testing!

Did the revs starts boucing again once the IACV was plugged back in? Thats your issue. The high base idle didnt help either obviously.

Well
I switched off engine 1st.
Then replug IACV and started Luke up, and he was fine.
So much more SMOOTHER and QUIETER now :D
Maybe too quiet??? Eeeek!

Forgot had to reset ECU (no tools with me to disconnect battery).
So braced myself driving home (as I was fixing it during my school - run).

Drove fine.
Got home - disconnect battery.
Waited.
Reconnected.
Drove again - and it was fine :P

If that fixes it (will give it a week or 2) - then I suspect maybe that screw comes loose (base idle screw) after a while???

Will see....feel MUCH better selling Luke like this (than before having that yo-yo rev)!!!
