Yep, that wasn't meant to be a straight of poo-pooing comment, what I meant was, I was genuinely interested how much 'new' stuff it was teaching you/if you think it will actually make you do things differently?
What I've been seeing recently from major projects in big organisations is massive governance and oversight structures and processes, which make the entire project completely unwieldy and far too slow and complex to react to some quite simple things. The increase in cost and programme as a result are quite mind boggling! And yet they're determined because they have all this governance and oversight, they're must be doing it the right way/doing the right thing...

I found a lot of the Prince 2 stuff to be little more than documented, disciplined common sense. I never used it specifically in all my years as a project manager. Many industries have their own ways of structuring projects so that they can fit standard audit methods.
I suppose that having the Prince qualification does at least show that you can apply a logical, considered approach, but I'd never make it a prerequisite for employing someone.

That sound amazing! Kinda a massive shame this is not being given to either the UK Government, NHS managers, HS1 Planners or those in control of the world politic then.Vtecmec wrote:Well, no actually; it's about a considered, organised and planned approach to delivery of a project (in any field). It's wider than running a job (which is only a stage of a project), and covers the top down structure from board level to those that deliver.

Your description seems to offer a panacea for fucktardery in industry. I wonder what system they use instead?
