inner cv joint replacement
Post by Bludge » Fri Apr 17, 2015 6:13 pm
Got an inner cv joint to replace, i have read the manual and it looks pretty straightforward apart from two things.
1. Is releasing the clip with a screwdriver to release the shaft as easy as it makes out in the manual?
and
2. the manual mentions marking the splines and spider before removal to make sure you put them back on right, as im fitting a new joint i cant mark it, so how do i make sure its going on the right way?
Also am i likely to need a gear puller thingy to get the spider off the shaft, or is there another way of doing it that doesnt require me spending more money! lol.

I had a quick go at this today and failed (mainly cause i was called away and didnt have the time to continue when i got back).
Does the drive shaft just pry away from the gearbox or is there a clip holding it in? also could someone post a picture of the drain and fill bolts on the gearbox, cause i couldnt see them?
Cheers!
