Im going mad!

Post by MaccaIRL » Wed Mar 18, 2015 6:17 pm

Help!!

Now i have your attention...

I have some really annoying noise, sounds a bit like 2 bits of metal rattling/grinding against each other coming from the rear

Seems to happen only when engine is cold/colder and usually when driving uphill or over bumpy surfaces

When i put the clutch in and rev, no noise.
When i coast anywhere out of gear, no noise.
When the engine etc is warmed up for 10mins,no noise.

Annoying me greatly, i think its maybe the exhaust but its hard to explain....

Sounds like a squeaky...grindy....rattle?

Dear god help :(

when cold metal shrinks slightly might just give it enough room to move?

I also had a rattle from an indeterminate location in the rear (ooer, missus). I suspected the heatshield, but that seemed OK. Yesterday, the noise changed, as if dragging a bit of plastic. When that stopped, the first sound didn't come back.

I can't see that anything's missing, though. Those falangees are awkward little buggers, aren't they?
