Cabin Air / Pollen Filter Retrofit

Post by AKT-VTI » Thu Mar 05, 2015 3:09 pm

Hi,

Just wondering if 5th gen UK cars are like the US cars where 99 onwards have a cabin air filter installed behind the glove box?

Either way - has anyone tried the retro-fit of the cabin air filters in the link below? Putting the part numbers into Lings Honda online does show availability for parts and decent-ish prices (apart from the filters themselves which are quite expensive)

Thanks! :)

Not seen anyone on here do it. It's intrigued me as to whether the same was possible on a 4g though... I might have to have a look at the heater unit I have in the shed!

I'd like to try this, but being a novice was just wondering if anyone's tried it already?

I did that to My Prelude as it is 97 and no cabin filter in standard. Can.not see your link on the phone, but you require: blank, 2x filters and 2x frames. Pretty much straight forward job:
glovebox out, cut slot, filters and frame in, blank in, glovebox in= job done.

Some people do.not bother to put frames, but that making contact point between filter and air con unit, causing damp on the filter=damp in the car.

I've imported my kit from US, as far I remember.

Great stuff... someone's done it - Thanks cebul!

It does seem like a simple job from posts on the US forums.. Have a look at the link I posted nitin_s1. Its for the retro-fit but if your car already has the filter then you won't have to cut out the slot for it. Just replace the old filters for new ones.

I think I'll order the parts and have a go.. I'll post back what the results are :)

Simple.job mate, there even are lines louder where tu cut so you it can not go wrong. Plastic is soft there so knife is ok (no dremel needed.

There should be part number for whole kit from my memory but can not remember the number, I believe Google will tell you more.

Thanks Cebul.

Don't worry mate I have the part numbers (I think). Parts are on order from Lings Honda. There's a bit of a delay with them, but when I get them and if they are all correct then I'll post up the part numbers....
