So I am in the market for one of these for the yota.
I have looked about and found a few of the most expensive ones (Turbosmart, hallman etc) and some of the nonbranded ones.
I like the hallman because if its tiny adjustments (I only want to tweak) but its costly.
Demontweeks has a fair selection but I know nothing about them. Whats a good standard? For £50 odd quid the turbosmart is looking the winner at the moment unless someone has some other ideas.
Looking for personal experience please. I realise the lude is a nonturbo car so it may be thin pickings but enough of us have turbo'd them so maybe there will be some information available.
Cheers.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Which brand manual boost controller? or doesn't it matter?
Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

I'm interested in manual boost controllers too, but surprisingly I couldn't find much info on ITOC
Can the fueling be adjusted to compensate for increased boost on on the Toyota? I'm not familiar with if they're drive by wire or not, I'm assuming it is??

yes there is a screw you can adjust. I'm not after making power so much as make it stable boost and reliable. I'll get the controller and gauge fitted and give it to someone who knows what they are doing to just tweak it into efficient burn and stable boost. Keeping temps down is the goal.
I finally found a boost gauge that has no vacuum and only goes to 15psi... harder than you might think. I hate having gauges that you can only use 1/5th of. Kinda pointless. The yota has overboost cutoff at 14psi and I want a stable 11psi at full boost (from research)
The hallman seems to have the bollocx written all over it but at a shade under a ton it had better do. Choice of springs and ceramic ball. I wonder if a £25 one will do exactly the same and just need a squirt of carb cleaner every 6 months (oil change time)
This is what I am hoping to get a couple of opinions on. Otherwise I'll get something in the middle field and see how it goes.

By drive by wire do you mean its all computer controlled~? if so no i dont think so but for a very simple ecu. Its an old skool derv chosen specifically because its an old skool derv
It'll run quite happily with no intake manifold on it apparently
