The 4WS sensor is inside the cowling.
What you're looking at there is the contact pins for the cruise control.
See pages 17-92 to 17-93 of the manual.
Which also means I was talking bollocks when I thought changing the steering wheel would drokk the 4WS. On a 4th gen, it doesn't, because the sensor doesn't run from the back of the steering wheel like on a 5th gen, it runs off the steering column further back instead. So wheel has nothing to do with it.
