Right
Stripped enough wire sheath off to pull wire thru bulb holder

One of the bulbs was short circuiting
The other bulb not making good enough contact via corroded terminals
Good old Deox again

Will solder 2moro (not sure if soldering iron a bit too big?)
If not work, i dont have a soldering pump to remove solder - EEEEK!

Ok
Soldering ironing NOT worked
The solder wouldnt stick to bulb terminal
The iron tip too BIG to solder the bulb holder contact
The bulb terminal not consistent contact (however much i de-rust or file down to bare metal)
Plus, i broke the bulb holder contact (well, it was too corroded and disintegrated after using DEOX - EEEK!)
Anyway ...

Yee-Haa!!!
100% consistent connection

Problem was this tiny rectangular opening was the NEGATIVE contact on the bulb holder to the negative leg of the bulb

The bulb leg was corroded
The bulb holder bit was corroded
Led to poor / inconsistent continuity
PLUS the horrendous design of this bulb holder meant it was difficult to service (replace bulb etc) and when i pulled the bulb POSITIVE out it would tear away the wite protective sheath - which meant the positive now made contact with the negative bulb holder and short-circuited and blown fuse
Soldering didnt work.
Didnt have a soldering pump - but was give this ...
Secret weapon ....WICK!

Used to de-solder and THIN and flexible enough to wrap round the NEGATIVE bulb terminal to make new contact with bulb holder
Plus had to insulate bulb POSITIVE terminal with black electrician tape

Will do thd other fog now ...
