Brake squeak
About 2,000 miles ago I had brembo blank discs and pads fitted all round. Over the last few weeks they have started to squeak under very light braking. When braking harder they make no noise at all. From what I understand Brembo are pretty good, so before I try changing the pads in an effort to cure this annoyance, has anyone got any advice?

Have you got the anti-squeal shims fitted to the backs of the pads?
Were the pads and calipers assembled with copper-ease/silicone grease on their backs and all sliding parts?
Are the pads wearing the disc evenly, if not are the caliper sliders all moving freely as they should be?

I will have to ask Rich at Performance Autoworks as he fitted them.wurlycorner wrote:Have you got the anti-squeal shims fitted to the backs of the pads?

How do I tell if the discs are wearing evenly? I am useless with brakes.

The other thing to note is that the brakes do not squeak until near the end of my 20 mile commute. Weird. Also spraying some brake cleaner on the pads and discs got rid of it for a few days then it came back. Does this help diagnose? I will call PA tomorrow to find out if they fitted the anti squeal shims.

If they came with shims they would of fitted them. As PAW are great at what they do
give them a call and see what they say. If it where me, I would remove the pads, rub a fresh face off them with some sand paper and make sure they are chamfered. Squeal is a very high frequency vibration. So that's why they do it on first application.

Spoke to Rich at PAW this morning, he can't remember if they came with the shims or not, it was back in November, so it was a bit of a long shot anyway. How can I tell if the shims are fitted or not?
Also, he suggested taking the brake pads out and putting some copper grease on them. I am a total noob when it comes to working on brakes. Is there a guide somewhere on how to remove the pads? Or can someone give me an idiots guide?
Thanks
Mike
