steering rack - inner tie rods

Post by vanzep » Wed Feb 04, 2015 4:55 pm

Just been for alignment and they said inner track rods on steering rack are goosed - one locking nut wont budge even with oxy on it and they say they are pretty rusty on both side.so they cant align the front wheels until these parts are fitted  still got charged for back wheel alignment

Does anyone know a good supplier of these parts - i see ones on ebay but they seem too cheap to be any good.
Any thoughts?

I just got mine from a local motor factor, no problems getting them in. They were first line ones.

One side is easy to change, the other is a complete arse (bum droppings access to the locking washer).

The locking washer won't come with the joint btw, you'll need to get new ones from Honda.

well the quinton hazel tie rods arrived yesterday.
heres a pic or two of them - they look to be good quality - cost was £38 for the pair :)

I already had the outer tie rods replaced before taking the lude to CLCM for wheel alignment.
Guy at CLCM said he couldnt align the passenger side front as inner tie was too corroded and he couldnt move the lock nut.

If you remember we thought the wheel wobble under braking was due to warped front discs but must have been the driveshaft on its way out and this has put some additional pressure on the steering rack so having to replace the lot.

Yep, they look proper.
QH always did do good quality stuff, never know these days though.
Is there a manufacturing date on them? (interested to see if NOS or recently manufactured)

ive used QH parts for other cars and thought they looked to be well made parts.
This will be the first QH part on the Lude :)
I got them from redline carparts on ebay - they were reduced as they were the last two in stock. There are other sellers listing them but nearer the £50-£60 mark for a pair.

@wurlycorner they dont have a mfg date on them but i suspect they are NOS. Doesnt matter as they are in sealed inner bags.
Im may be wrong but i think these ones are also listed as fitting 3rd gens but you would have to double check.

Yep, nothing at all wrong with NOS, was just curious to see if they're still manufacturing things to the same high quality or not (if it was recently manufactured, suggests that they are) :D
