The irony is that it was the British who invented the whole Metric system in the first place but we stuck with the Imperial system for one reason or another, then our European buddies took up the Metric system and started to make it a Euro standard.

Just don't tell the French, they would hate knowing another system they support was invented by us! :lol:

That's the commonly accepted belief but apparently it was the British a few hundred years ago. I think it was part of some boring documentary I saw a few years back. Probably by Fred Dibnah! :lol:
