Steering lock and barrel for 4th Gen

Post by sleepy » Fri Jan 16, 2015 11:42 am

Hopefully the above says it all. Needed urgently.

I'm assuming it's the same for all models but if not mine's a BB4.

Likewise, I'm keeping the spare off my breaker too (long convoluted plan to get the remote central locking working on the BB4).
Sorry can't help :(

Plenty of breakers on ebay though? Have you tried them?

Excellent idea! I'm going to fire off a few questions now.

Cheers. :)

Any joy?

I thought I'd found them on eBay from one being broken but I've had no reply to my message confirming I was interested....

So I gave him a ring and I think I'm set. :D

One last question just to be on the safe side - there's no difference between a manual and an automatic ignition is there?

Yes, there is a difference, depending on the year...

Late model 4th gen auto's have something in the barrel that traps the key in unless the auto box is in park (IIRC).
Early ones, I don't think there's any difference, but you should probably check through the service manuals (including all the supplements) to be sure.
