JDM are polished, UKDM are painted. When I got mine they were painted, had them refurbed after attempting to remove the paint on one side! It's getting it down to the bare metal that would be a problem you see, so I might get somewhere to dip them to get all the paint and underlying crap off so I can polish them

Alright fellas. As there is some interest, I'm going to document one wheel from start to finish.

The first thing to do is to get the tyres removed. This will make it a lot easier.
It cost me £2.50 per wheel at my local friendly tyre fitters.

STAGE 1: LACQUER AND PAINT REMOVAL
Get your Nitromors aerosol and spray in the 'teardrops' between the spokes. Also spray inside the wheel nut holes.
Leave it for 10 minutes or so, to let it work its magic.

Then get your small wire/stiff bristle brush and scrub the area within the spokes. Also do the wheel nut holes.

When you've finished this stage, spray your Nitromors over the face of the wheel and leave for another 10 minutes or so.

You'll see the lacquer start to bubble and lift off.

Get a larger stiff bristle brush and scrub the face of the wheel. The lacquer comes off really easily.
Don't use a wire brush this time as you don't want to add scratches to the surface.

Now you want to clean off all the old lacquer and Nitromors from the wheel.
Nitromors is water washable, so I put my wheel in the bath and added some washing up liquid.

Dry it off.
As the 'teardrops' and wheel nut holes are painted as well as lacquered, these will need a second application of Nitromors.
Once you've done this, wash off the Nitromors and dry the wheel again.
Your wheel should now look something like this...

Tune in next time to remove the corrosion stains and imperfections and to start the polishing process.

Just to add, as these are my Winter wheels I wasn't going to go overboard with them.
I'm leaving the insides all scabby.

If you want to do yours, I found the Nitromors and a wire brush attachment on a drill works quite well.
They will still be scabby looking afterwards so I guess they'd need painting, but the surface would be smoothish.
