Yeah but they're stuck at ground level whilst ducks soar to new horizons. All about perspective ;)

Yep, Drax as newkid says, pretty easy.

You need to remove the centre console surround (and at least pull it forward clear a bit, then there are 2 screws under the front you can see and need to remove.
You also need to pull your stereo out, because there's 1 other screw underneath, in the middle towards the back. There are 2 loom plugs underneath on the right hand side. After that, the whole vent/a/c controller unit just pulls out (there are spring clips under the dash top).

Why does yours need swapping?

Re: 1995 White BB4 Si Vtec - non-exciting servicing stuff

Swapped this;

For this (because it's marginally better and I had it laying around);

It's only a temporary thing anyway, because there is something else planned to go on... ;)

In the process, I discovered that for some reason the manifold is painted blue :?

And finally getting round to doing some servicing on it.
Changed the coolant (exciting!).
The old stuff looked like this;
Image
It's a mix of red and green coolant with a very thin oily film :evil: (not properly flushed when it was changed from one to the other before by the looks and...)

The bottom of the expansion tank had this sludge in it;

Nice! :lol: :evil:

Nothing at all wrong with the engine now, but I'd say at some point in the past there's been some pretty nasty oil ingress to the coolant and the system wasn't properly flushed after the problem was fixed, just had the coolant changed.

Anyway, I flushed it through with clean water, filled it with water, ran it up to temp, drained again and then refilled with 50/50 mixture. I'll change it again in a month or so.

Oil needs doing next weekend and in the meantime, it's started playing up :troll:

Cuts out on start when cold. Not bothered looking into it yet.
Alternator also on the way out I think.

Bizarre blue manifold!

I used silver alloy wheel paint on my exhaust manifold cover and it still looks good :lol:

Quick update - I've not driven this one much this year, Lisa has been using it, but I had a quick spin in it a few weeks ago and it felt a bit heavy on the front brakes.

Image

:? Err.. Yep. That's as bad a set of rear brakes as I've seen on a lude :lol:

:roll: Bad timing though - bloody MOT has just run out, so that's another one off the road for now :roll: I am actually road going lude-less at the moment :cry:
