The terminal in the centre of the brakelight must be the positive. Maybe the two metal fixing points at each end give you the earth. Re: dislodged mounting bolt. can you offer up a short length of appropriate stud bar (8mm), and use plumbers thread tape to pack it out.

Stud bar?
English please! :)

Have many thoughts...
- anchor bolts
- bigger bolts
- hallow wall raw plugs
- fixings for hollow walls

But need to know exact thickness (worn thread hole + maybe boot thickness) to get a tight fitting ...

stud bar is threaded bar, like a bolt, but with no head on it. You need to measure the thread size of the bolts that are still in place to know what size was in the one that's lost it's bolt. That will tell you the size of the whole before the bolt pulled out.

I'm guessing it may be either 6 or 8mm, doesn't look big enough to be 10mm

Is that like a coil (like my cambelt witu bolt holes worn, thy stuck a coil in - and use that as a new thread hole to screw in)???

It's just like the shaft of a bolt but with no head, this kind of thing:

I've got some of that in my garage as it happens to be a good way of putting Audi's into the service position without buying the stupid tool.

Only thing to bear in mind with a Honda is they often use a fine pitch, which isn't commonplace in hardware stores etc. when buying fixings.

Why didn't you sort out some wiring for that third brake light while you had it all apart?

It does look like it could be opened up fairly easily, so I wouldn't have thought it'd be a major job to install a couple of dropper wires and route them into the car. The boot lid could be drilled in the centre to provide the missing third hole. It wouldn't be quite as neat as using the OEM loom, but it wouldn't be on show so not really a major drama in that sense.

Well said, Donald.

Did considered that - would be a case of connecting to the spoiler light and splice it to one of the cables in the boot for the brake lights.

I think I just decided to leave it after taken on more work to Luke than I bargain for over the Christmas / NY period and STILL not finished on the work I set out to complete :(

A continuity test shows the spoiler light is broke too - but again,
like the my fogs it could just be a simple case of adjusting lose/corroded connections...(or as Prelude91 pointed out, I could have tested the wrong connection anyway!)

Still, can be a future to-do job :)

ANY trivial DIY job is a MAJOR drama for Wayne, Martin!
