The sad day has come when I need to say goodbye to my lovely Prelude. I had her for 7 months and joined the forum when I bought her. I am the 5th owner. A new job and company car mean she has to go. This was one of the last mk4 Prelude Vtecs that officially came to the UK. I am based near Reading.
Good points:
- Rare Pacific Blue colour with even rarer leather interior - some wear on driver's seat bolster but generally very good condition.
- Current mileage 162600 - daily use so likely to increase slightly.
- Alloys recently refurbed and matching Continental tyres all round 5/6 mm.
- 4ws works perfectly (see pics).
- She is a daily runner and was last serviced just 500 miles ago with Honda. Masses of receipts and fully stamped service book - a rare find. She is not a new car and shows signs of her 18 years with some dents etc but nothing major. Still on original supplying dealer number plates.
- Outstanding service history file with masses of invoices and receipts. Has been serviced total of 21 times during her 18.5 years. 19 services done by Honda main dealer including last service 6.12.14 (161780). (They noted there was a slight engine oil leak, cv joints were wearing slightly and a small leak from power steering cooler)
- Full year MOT - next due until Jan 2016. Advisories re: front CV joints deteriorated and some under body corrosion (see pic)
- All electrics work incl air con (note fan speed and temp slider controls do not illuminate at night - work fine)
- All handbooks, spare wheel, tools and jack.3 keys (including grey valet key). 1x remote for alarm - siren doesn't sound but can be used as remote locking and also disarms immobiliser.
. Cambelt changed 14.03.2008 @ 103261 miles by Honda main dealer
Bad points
- Like with all Prelude's the main issue is the bodywork. Rust in usual places such as rear wheel arches, sunroof bubbling slightly (see pics)
- Also has water leak into left hand side of boot. Last owner failed to share this with me and seems had done a botch job of filling boot weld with cheap filler and painting it blue. I think it is due to rust where rear wing meets boot and I have covered this with tape and this has reduced the leak. Boot is still usable but water does collect in spare wheel area after a while (can be easily drained) and left hand side of boot carpet gets some mould.
Sold as seen, I have been as honest as possible. I would like to see her go to an enthusiast. Is advertised elsewhere.
PLEASE NOTE - I am due to be away 9th-16th. Hopefully if it sells then she can be collected before the 9th Jan. I am happy to be available from 17th Jan onwards. New owner's details on V5 will be completed on day of collection and sent off to DVLA.
