Genuine question, not provocation....

I can understand that years ago turbos came with lag and made precise and linear throttle control more difficult (and could be unreliable), but I assume these days with better bearings and finer tolerances on rotors etc, not to mention better mapping/control and twin turbo setups all to help the things spool up quicker, this isn't a problem. (I assume but haven't driven one). If this is true then what's the problem with turbos? Why don't people like them?

It's not even as if FI is a new thing... did people complain about superchargers in Spitfires and Bentleys? I'm guessing (just guessing) modern turbos have smaller losses and are getting almost as immediate, even if acting at higher revs? Some turbo engines seem to be able to rev pretty high now too.

Like I say, I'm not looking for an argument, just curious....?

Now compare economy emissions and torque between the 2. The torque makes the car a Much faster car in gear.

The cars nowadays are not track orientated like high revs driving a lot. They are designed for daily driving with performance driving in mind where you pull from low gears.

You're missing the point that Ratty is making.

What you want and think is different from legislation and what a bunch of Honda techs scribble in their notepads.

it has nothing to do with being green yes Honda make great n/a engines you will get no argument there, but making an engine n/a with 300bhp would mean it is an out and out screamer. This is because its going to be a 4 pot not a v6 we are talking about which means pretty much no torque lower down which means its gutless until its screaming.
Sales will be lost because most peoples taste of speed is the traffic light grand prix you drive a lude yeah which isn't a type R and your sat next to a FN2 type r at the lights you both go for it the type R driver is pretty pissed his 30k hot hatch cant beat his granddads car.
Honda's N/a engines are great adding a turbo to that or a supercharger will only make it better do you really think Honda will take the lazy way out and make a crap engine with a huge turbo just to make the power?
