Just to update this, I messaged the guy pointing out that I could get mine welded up in-situ for £50 so offered him the same etc. but he came back saying he should have cleaned the part before listing (wurlycorner wrote:EDIT: one of these exact engines being broken on ebay atm, wants £100 + postage for that part (minus the sump pan on the bottom). That's still too much IMO!
Yep it's rare and is something that if someone needs one, they're sort of in a 'have' to buy it, but it's also not a perishable part, very unlikely to be needed, plus I could probably get mine welded up for less than that, so at £100, he could end up holding onto it for a very very long time... Once I've had a proper look to see whether it's an engine out or not, job, I might offer him £50 as a take it or leave it. I need to get under the car anyway, to decide its fate...

I replied saying to the effect of GLWTS and let me know when you get fed up with it taking up space!

Thursday night at the University of Easy Access, eh...?

I could probably have gone with that
(I think Lisa's up there for a meeting that day too..?)
Been a good few years since I've been to the Waterfront (last time was for a hardcore night
)
But anyway, never mind. What did you get in return?
