Diesel mk2 crv? Our petrol one has been great, drives really well, plenty of toys, power socket in the boot as standard, boot floor is also a table! Split rear seats, big boot etc etc etc.
Our 03 was just over 2k about a year ago.
Or, dare I say it again, rover 75. 60+mpg, BMW 5 series running gear, toys a plenty. If you can't handle the interior, get a black trim kit to replace the wood, or, get the MG version. (ZT)

My daily/family ride is a mk3 mondeo hatchback tdci. i picked it up for £360 quid with 160k on the clock only needing disks and pads and a rear wheel bearing. with careful driving i hae had 70mpg out of it (according to the trip computer). they are big and comfortable with all the basic toys (air con, electric windows all round, remote central locking, heated fronnt screen which is amazing) and pretty easy to upgrade (i won a set of heated leather seats on ebay for £50)
I havent tried yet but with the rear seats down you should comfortable get a double mattress in.
I have had 2 now and i love them! i dont think they are too bad looking either!
