Hoping to test it out the tape theory over the weekend gang if I get time... busy Sunday and Saturday I'm taking to an exhaust place to see what can be done about the cheap and nasty 'Japspeed' system it's got on it ....faaaaaaar too noisy! Please bare in mind that my weekend car is 330+bhp 2008 Impreza STI that has a full 3" Invidia system on it - so when I say this Japspeed 'effort' is cheap, nasty and way too loud - I mean it haha <<cringe>>. I'm hoping they'll be able to knock-up a larger, quieter backbox that atl east has 'some' baffling in it to ease things a bit ....the next step after that would be remove the decat.
Thanks for your help so far though guys, it's nice to be back in a Honda, (and back in a 'Lude no less! - used to own a 4th Gen import VTEC some years ago, and m first car was actually an '86 - Gen 2?)

Bit of an update on this - thankfully, it's not the windcsreen.
It's actually coming from the driver's side wing mirror!!!
Tried driving with the window down and apply pressure in different places, and didn't make any difference!
I've not had time to take it apart yet, but in wondering if there's a gasket between the baseplate and the car door that might be missing or something?
It's a manual folding mirror, and it does seem to be a little less 'solid' when folding as compared to the passenger side one. There's no actual visible damage to it, some I'm thinking maybe someone's phatt a$$ knocked it in a car park lol. So I might have to source another one. A bit annoying but easier to sort than faffing about with sealants!

Gotta love touch screens, cold fingers and auto-correct! Apologies for the miss-spelling!

It might just be missing one of the securing screws that holds it onto the door?Noddyunplugged wrote:Bit of an update on this - thankfully, it's not the windcsreen.

Not sure how the 5th gen mirrors attach, but if it's like the 4th gen... pull the triangular cover off the inside on the door and you can see there should be 3 screws holding it on.
Re: gasket, there should be a rubber cover between the mirror bracket and the door.

Ah cool, cheers Iain. Yeah, from pics I've seen - the attachment is very similar - 3 screws. It's hard to tell at the moment though, weather the sound is coming from the baseplate as it attaches to the door, or it's coming from the folding pivot point.
Can anyone tell me if I can take off the mirror triangle without removing the door card - can it be wiggled out?

Hi all, I also have a most irritating high pitch whistle but in my case, it's been tracked to the air-con system. It too is on the left hand side sounding like it's coming from the speaker unit.
It's yet another little niggle that needs to fixed and is important as it's not feasible to drive out here without the air-con on.
