Re: BB4 bumper fixed and new oil cooler hoses fitted

Post by vanzep » Fri Aug 29, 2014 8:13 pm

yeah still not heard anything but i will catch up with them thats for sure :)

on the upside i repaired the back bumper straight away and it looks ok
also
I picked up the second of the two oil cooler pipes from Honda today and @3rd Gen Steve kindly fitted them :)
bit of tricky job to get them in place by the looks of it as the downpipe and a bracket are right in the way.
I always feel guilty taking my lude into steves nice clean garage - by the time i left the garage and steve were covered in coolant and oil

Re: BB4 backlog of work lol

Post by vanzep » Sun Sep 07, 2014 7:43 pm

Couple of new parts fitted:-

New power steering pump fitted as it had been making a hell of a racket for some time now. It took about 18 months to fail So i knew about it and had a spare ready to fit ;)
New rear number plate holder as the the bottom retaing tabs for the plate were broken when i bought the car - its only taken me 14 years to get round to fixing it
@JDMBB4 kindly donated a jdm bootlid with number plate holder in black so i had a go at painting it milano red with a rattle can - a bit of orange peel in some areas but not too bad a job considering my past record  .
I have the bootlid ready to paint but im not too confident its going to pass muster as it will be a rattle can job again to save cost.

Other parts ready to go on to fix know weak points/wear and tear:

Brake Mater Cylinder - wobble under heavy braking - i think its weak mc pressure
Clutch Master Cylinder - squeaking and leaking
Clutch Slave Cylinder - torn boot

New exhaust manifold gasket and tighten up joints on plm triy header - might need to take the mani off the car - if i do then i might as well heatwrap it with the titanium wrap i bought a few years ago

Still got to rebuild offside driveshaft as this is chattering a bit on full lock so will need replaced at some point and there an annoying rattle from the nearside rear suspension which i have yet to identify - possibly wishbone ball joint or arb droplink and hopefully not the shock absorber :?

so enough work to keep me busy - seems to be never ending

Re: BB4 bootlid painted and ready to assemble

Post by vanzep » Fri Sep 12, 2014 3:43 pm

got the bootlid painted yesterday - just a rattle can out in the back garden.
it came out pretty good but might need a bit more work to the laquer on the top as it went on a bit dry when the can was running out - i should have stopped when i new i was near the end but hey ho  Looks not bad and should polish up nicely :)

Cheers but its only perfect in patches - most of the face of the bootlid is good the top of it needs some more work to the laquer coat - if i can get that done correctly then i would say it would be passable the orange peel is not too bad at all and only visible if you look really closesly. Weather conditions were perfect as there wasnt even the slightlest breeze ;)

I got the wings west sideskirts yesterday so when @honda-hardy get the front lip to me then i can think about doing some more bodywork before the summer dissapears :D

:) Cheers
Few parts fitted this week:

New Instrument cluster - as old one was playing up a bit - clock was counting forward and i changed that first but didnt solve the problem so changed the whole unit . Also waiting to see if low fuel warning light works now...

Replaced badly worn es poly rear arb bushes - not quite sure why they wore so badly after about 18 months but there was about 3/4" of play on one of them(drivers side). Went back to oem bushes for time being as i had them in my spares bin :)
Suspension on passenger side still sounds a bit boomy over cobbled roads so might need to have another look

Vtec solenoid/spool valve was leaking so replaced both gaskets - noticed that the old upper solenoid gasket didnt have a mesh in it - the replacement did so all is good. 8-)
Changing the gaskets feels like it has made a an improvement.

yes they are and your old lude has my oem sides on it now ;)
actually they were swapped over fairly soon after the lude left your care but the wings west sides skirts have been sitting in a garage in Dunfermline until the other week
