All banter aside I hope today goes smoothly and that the Scottish people get a result they can be happy with.

Good luck however it goes and may the Saltire fly over Holyrood for generations to come.

Thanks man! They suggest we'll see over a 97% voter turnout, so whatever happens - it should actually be what the people wanted. What happens after that, well - we'll see

A close vote either way is a bad result imo... Shows neither side has out a strong enough tangible case and the country is torn in 2. Difficult to reconcile that afterwards.

Whatever happens, it's going to be a bumpy ride. Even in the event of a 'no' vote, I find it hard to see how things can go back to normal.

Despite that, here's to a smooth count and a definite result one way or another.

Interesting point they made yesterday on the news - This will obviously effect the entire UK, yet 96% of the voting population can do nothing about it, except watch.

pretty much how we have been for years then, as scotland only has a population 5.2 million .... compared to the rest of the uk at 60 million !

so when ever scotland voted (no matter if 100% of us voted) it made VERY little impact on the outcome, so we have just been along for ride with westminister

It's no difference for anyone else Lucas.

Look at the 2010 General election results;
'Actual Vote' split of the big 3;
Tory = 40%
Labour = 33%
Lib Dem = 26%

But then look at the number of seats (what actually determines the make-up/balance of power in the UK parliament);
Tory = 47%
Labour = 40%
Lib Dem = 9%

Massive imbalance between what people vote for and what is then delivered.

That's a UK 'hard done by' problem, not a Scottish 'hard done by' problem.

(Incidentally, Scotland gets 11% of total Westminster MP's, pretty much in line with balanced % of voters)
