Phew, this has all taken a rather nasty turn, I agree that this thread had the makings of an honest and non bigoted adult debate. unfortunately, like a previous example, no names mentioned, it has been spoilt by some. I believe that the opinions expressed by individuals, should not be allowed to overshadow the friendships and goodwill that this forum has encouraged, on the whole, at least since my joining, across all spectrums of geopolitical areas of this great nation of ours, including the benefits that the union provides. In conclusion Scots.. do the right thing, and for gods sake, stay in the union, or you'll regret it sooner or later.

I, too, think that Scotland should stay in the Union.
My main reason is a broad one: I'm in favour of a world without borders.
This is in no way incompatible with the existence of strong regional and national characters.
Scotland is another country. Surely we can all agree on that? And if this episode in the relationship leads to a partnership rather than unbalanced centralisation of a London-centric government, that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

Unfortunately with serious events comes serious opinions, You will never get a peaceful talk about politics or religion ever. It's not what humans do. If we were capable of it then there wouldn't be wars and history would be very bland.
The important thing is to remember we are all friends! Here. We all have very different opinions on things and that is absolutely fine. As long as personal attacks don't occur then there's no real harm done

History is interesting. You don't find it interesting?
And unfortunately wars are part of that yes.
Just because a bad event happens doesn't mean it's not interesting? It means it is of interest, why did happen, how did it happen etc.
I think you could be taking my comment abit wrong there some how.
I did not state wars are cool or fun?

I almost cannot believe some of what I am reading here... are we not all friends and adults whom are allowed opinions?
'It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought, without accepting it'- Aristotle
I believe some of the comments have been read completely wrong. Maybe agreeing to disagree here is the best way forward? Its fact not everyone will always agree on everything. Nothing wrong with a good debate but some of this is crossing the line.
Just my opinion of course. Feel free to beat me down
