So I've been thinking of getting an ally fuel tank for inside my car but then had a thought . Is there any reason I can't mount my stock fuel tank in the spare wheel well ?
I will be sheeting off the boot space anyway but does anyone no if this is possible.

it does need to be in an enclosed space I think it even needs to be sealed although quite a few cars have tanks in the boot like the alfa 164

Jon, as I am turning mine into a dedicated track car (towing it everywhere
) I am also thinking a alloy fuel tank for inside the car. But the only thing that is stopping me is what benefit will it have. So that's my question
I personally wouldn't fit the oem tank inside the car purely because you couldn't customise it in regards to fuel filling, pipe routing ect. But I may be wrong
I was also told by a veteran hill climb racer that in front of the crush zone/rear axel is the best place to put it due to that it could get split if hit up the arse.

I would also fit swirl pot if I was fitting a alloy tank. Just to be sure against fuel surge.

It was just a thought I had but as you say there's no real benefit unless fitting a smaller one to save weight .
I would also definatley fit a swirl pot if I do go the alloy fuel tank route buy for now I think I'll leave it. Cheers for the reply guys
