Best of luck mate!!

Cheers mate, moving engines is definitely made easier with the Isuzu lol. To use the OEM ECU you should use the correct key and dash clocks, but I'm just going to have the immobiliser disabled as I want to keep my mk2 clocks. The dash of a 2001 car would look out of place in a car designed in the eighties imowurlycorner wrote:Nice and neatly stowed with that engine, jj!![]()
if you're using the oem ecu for the new engine, will you need the key as well, in case they're coded together?

So I went to my parent's farm and set about fitting the engine to my engine stand today - first time I've used it since buying it god knows how long ago
It was fairly painless, I pulled the gearbox off and then removed the clutch (hopefully didn't warp the pressure plate as it's a LUK kit and in good condition
). I managed to use two bolts from the gearbox mount to secure the engine to the stand, but needed two larger M12 bolts to secure two of the upper bolt holes, these were obtained from my mate's workshop. Then it was just a case of securing my father to a large rope, attaching him to the front of the engine stand, and getting him to run up the steep driveway whilst I pushed the engine
Job done, engine is now in the garage ready for working on
Some photos of the process:

I couldn't be arsed to carry the gearbox up to the house from the yard where I keep some of my cars, so I used the Civic as an improvised shed instead

Sorted!

Yep. Manta A.Carlosfandango wrote:Mk1 Manta?wurlycorner wrote: What's the Opel at the bottom? Don't recognise that one?
There were 1.6 and 1.9 versions in the UK. If that's a real GT/E, it's a rare beast - and will nearly keep up with a 2.2 Lude.
Pity the Porsche Speedster is probably not a real one (especially with that reg).
