Makes for a better surface for the render to stick to. I'll easily knock off any mortar that sticks out too much.

And I'll probably just raise my arms ;-)

Oh I see  I can't blame them. The blocks get dropped at the top of my drive and they then have to transport them all around the back!

Well the middle third was concreted nearly 2 weeks ago...

The weather was so hot though that they decided to hold off doing the rest for a while. They had done the rear extension base earlier that morning and by the afternoon they were walking on it!

Hard to tell here, but they put a slight run on the entrance...

And then just today they finished it :D ...

It's different colours as believe it or not there's actually a concrete shortage :? (There's also a brick and block shortage as well, but I've been lucky enough that my builders were able to source enough for the build :) )

The back right corner was done first thing this morning and almost looked hard enough to walk on when I got home...

Image

Then the front right corner and the left side was supplied by a second supplier this afternoon hence the colour difference...

Hopefully once dried the slab shouldn't be too multi-coloured, but either way I'm considering a floor grinder/polisher to smooth it back and then I might paint it 8)

Polish and seal the floor is a must. The dust generated on a bare concrete floor is incredible. Looks great.

Also fit draft excluders to the bottom of the doors. You will be amazed at the level of leaves that get in too.
