3k for a 3rd is good imo but not that one. It's an auto, an ex and not even 4ws.

Agreed, they're downers, but it has all that gear on it already as well.

All the 3rd gens left these days seem to be auto, too :(

Not sure whether I'll do a conversion on mine or keep it auto (it's not gonna be a track car or a daily so for the amount of use it'll get probably not worth the effort) but I am really wishing I had taken everything needed for the conversion off flashman's breaker when he had it, just to make sure I have the bits available if I do want to. Might not find them again?!
I didn't have the time or tools at the time though :(

I would pay 3k for a carbed 3rd Gen but it would have to be the rare XX with the 4ws and be a manual

But you'd have to ask yourself "what's under the wrap"?

I will get some advice about my wheels today from my mechanic (not saying I dont trust you guys or anything like that ;) ;) ) ;)
Though he is proper old school and dont like anything modified! I will see what feedback he gives. I personally dont think it is that big of an issue, I just wanted the rubbing eliminated, but as it is not an everyday occurrence I think I can live with a little rubbing...

For 5th gens...

215/35/18 - Larger Contact Patch, Small Profile means Less Protection for Wheels
215/40/18 - Larger Contact Patch, Overall Diameter is Larger
225/35/18 - Even Larger Contact Patch, Recommended tire size for 18x7.5" with at least a +48mm offset
225/40/18 - Even Larger Contact Patch, Overall Diameter is Larger, Not Recommended if car is Lowered

So your tyre wall is approximately 6.75mm taller than the 225/40r18's which isn't recommended if the car is lowered.

As Bennyboy says though, it'll run better on 17's with a decent sized tyre. 18's just have no tyre wall to avoid rubbing, but then they handle so harshly.
^^ this is all the info you need. As your tyres don't match any of the sizes listed above, they don't/won't fit properly.

Also, when it comes to specialist Prelude knowledge, I would take info from some of these site members way before I'd ask a general mechanic ..but that's just me ;)

bb1boy hit it right on the head and dragged it back to the cave for dry entrance.

Don't bother asking your guy.

IIRC @macky_6 had/has 18s. Would be worth at least getting his opinion too, but as said the problem is the wheel size and then tyre size.

@bb1boy, my mechanic has been a Honda Specialist, running his garage since 1972. I hang on to every word he says. Noone but me, or him touches my car... and as it turned out, the wheels are rubbing on the mudguard, he is gonna take them off and move the screws and cut an indent into it to get rid of the bit where it is rubbing...  :p
