Integra JDM 98 Spec

Post by Dino » Wed Jul 30, 2014 11:22 am

I can’t believe I’m even doing this, but needs must.
I bought this car from my friend Leighton. I helped him source this car over 2.5 years ago as he was looking for a very good JDM 98Spec.
Fortunately I managed to point him in the right direction of Mark Gunn, who had lovingly cherished this car and originally imported the car into the UK.
Mark is a member on the DC2 forum (Magic-R)
The car was originally imported into the Uk by Private Imports and sold to Mark in June 2007 when she was first UK registered.
Since my friend and myself have owned the car, she has always been garaged overnight and not seen a winter road.
I bought the car in May 2013 and has been an absolute joy to own.
I took the car off the road in September 2013 and garaged her over winter.
My build thread is here and should hopefully give you an idea of how much I love this car.

Additional Info:
This car has been an absolute joy to own and is a very clean example of a JDM 98 Spec
It really pains me to sell the car, as I have got it to just how I want it and have spent a considerable amount of man hours on her.
Engine and transmission wise, the car doesn’t burn a drop of oil and is very healthy. She pulls very hard in all gears and made 212bhp on the dyno in Summer before the manifold was fitted, so I expect a little more now. There is a slight rattle at idle coming from the back box. This could either be repaired or an alternative backbox fitted as the exhaust is a small work of art.
The car is always run on Vpower or Tesco 99 fuel
The gearbox engages all gears with no crunching even at high rpm. There is a small noise from the clutch release bearing, but disappears when the clutch is depressed. This is not uncommon on a lot of DC2’s and was like this on my old DC2 and doesn’t bother me at all and does not affect gear engagement or clutch use.
The brakes and the suspension on the car are superb. I drive the car regularly on B roads to travel back and forth from work. The suspension is very compliant with these spring rates and very stable. The brakes are sharp and crisp with good pedal feel.
I do believe the car has never seen a track day and so is a non-abused example.
Bodywork, the car has no rust present or evident that I can observe.
The car was fully undersealed upon arrival in the UK including behind the bumper and under the sills.
I have also filled the arches with Bilts Hamber Dynax S50 sealant which is a flexible sealant that doesn’t crack or split and flex’s with the body work of the car, and should provide many years protection from the typical rear arch rot that can occur on a lot of DC2’s
There are a couple of stone chips on the bonnet but these have been touched up.
There is some paint missing on the front lip approximately 6” long by 1” wide. This was due to previous owner clipping a pheasant. I have been quoted £150 to sort, but will take into account this cost in the price.

But overall a very good clean example of a DC2. The car is ready to go as is and should provide many years trouble free motoring.
Price Wise is £6,250 ovno

I can vouch for the work and maintenance that mark gunn put into this car, I worked with him for a few years and never stopped talking about it, I think he kept it pretty much standard and was super anal about what parts were used, replacing bits for piece of mind rather than the car ever needing it!

I think this was considered one of the cleanest in the uk?

That's a bloody good price dino considering the others I've been looking at!
236bhp and 170ft/lb stock

When you first put a thread up about this car I thought "If he ever sells that I'll buy it".

However, my bank manager is a wanker.

Good luck with the sale. Lovely car.
