Yeah, just an unlucky set of circumstances. Oh well, that's why it's called luck I guess.

You are correct though ;) It's all done now and I'm picking it up Tuesday.
Can't wait, it's amazing how you miss a lude when you don't have it.

Re: BsBB1: Engine and wiper arms sorted

OK, well here's a few pics, but obviously the finished article looks pretty similar to how it did before!

Being carted off :(

@4thgenphil's supplied new block:

Spangly new build (complete with new dizzy):

Basically, this involved another new set of rings, a replacement piston and rod, head gasket, sump gasket, fluids etc...
The rest was all usable and transplanted over.

Once she was home, I decided to sort the bloody annoying wiper arms.

Before:

The majority of the coating was actually very sound, so instead of going the sandblast route (done this before with wiper arms and it was a PITA), I decided to just take back all the loose stuff and give the surface a good key:

I then gave them a good few coats of Zinc182, but forgot to get pics. Here's another part I was doing at the same time though, for a retro bike I was building up for a mate:

I like Zinc182 as it's an ace primer, but it also gives a kind of stoved finish, which is great for taking paint.

So anyway, wipers done:

The slightly patchy appearance is due to me having to fit them in the rain, then give them a quick wipe before a pic
Once they are cured properly, I'll whack a bit of wax type stuff on them.

I like how the simplest wiper restoring makes the whole car's appearance look good. Same in my case as well. I restored my wipers and the car's front end transformed.

Glad she's back up and running 8-)

EDIT: Does the re-worked engine feel any different?
