Is it possible & how hard is it to fit A/C on a UK 4th Gen?
Post by arif_manji » Fri Jul 25, 2014 1:11 pm
Hey guys,
Just a quick question before I can make up my mind... How hard is it to install A/C on a UK spec 4th Gen? I've seen this 4th Gen 2.3i with mega low mileage but has no A/C. I tend to use it quiet alot and just wanted to know if its possible. And if anyone on here has done it or knows someone who could do it for me?
I totally understand alot of work is required and parts required (second hand from a 2.2i VTEC or 2.3i that has it).
Thanks,
Arif

Its actually quite easy.
Most of the wiring is already in the car.
The wiring with connectors is marked with blue tape.
The rest is just parts: get a condensor, fan, hardlines, compressor, belt, switch on your heater switch panel and the inside piece that fits your current empty box between heater box and blower.
Have a manual beside you to make sure you have all parts and the correct wiring/relays etc.
Edit: this part I just wrote is meant for 4th gen. I don't know about 5th gen...

Thanks Edson, that is good news... Is there anyone who would take on this job for me? I'd pay good money for it too! I just love the 4th Gen, really want this car.

I have a brand new 4th gen A/C kit waiting to be fitted to mine - comes with full instructions on fitting..
Want me to scan the instructions for you?
..
..
Thinking about it - it's probably a good candidate for the wiki..
Mods? what do you think?

Yeah, it was new old stock from ebay. I was watching it too
If you fit a UK spec a/c system to a UKDM lude, it probably wouldn't be that involved.
If you wanted to fit the full JDM spec a/c system to a UKDM lude, that is a lot more work.
Stick with the first option!

OK, as promised, here you go..
The scanning of pages 1 & 2 didn't quite go as planned though - it's a massive sheet so I had to scan it in parts and stitch it together. Unfortunately the folds didn't scan too well so there is a small line missing in between each stitched part. I'll try and fiddle with it and see if I can improve it, but in the mean time, here it is..
