Turbo advice?
Post by Merlin » Tue Jul 22, 2014 11:14 am
Hypothetical situation, If I wanted to turbo my car what would I need to do. I know nothing of boosting and so I am at the noob level.
I think my head and IM/TB are up to the job (SK2 Pro valve train) but would think that sleeving the cylinders and lower comp pistons are a must. Then all the turbo/intercooler/BOV/manifold & downpipe gubbins. If I chose to go down this route I would require in the region of 340bhp (275whp).
For quality parts how much are we talking? Itemised if possible.

Imo it's your top half of the engine letting you down fir turbo. Higher valve overlap isn't wanted with boost.
High compression can be done depending on boost pressure and you could go up to 6psi on the stock rings

Always best to sleeve the block IMO. I'm using Darton mid wet sleeves it was not cheap but by far worth It in the long run I have a standard atr head but have decided to get some skunk2 valve springs, retainers and seals

Friend of mine just did a turbo build on his Integra Type R, he didn't skimp on quality parts. All in he spent £5000 and got 375bhp.
