BARGAIN - Three Honda Preludes for sale

Post by 944tus » Sun Jul 20, 2014 10:31 am

I am not going to go into how great these cars are as I am sure you all know, so right to the point........

Don't be put off by the asking price of these cars, they are very straight original unmodified cars with very few owners.
I have seen much worse cars with ropey bodywork and rusty arches for more than twice the price of mine.

Blue 2.2 1997 manual £500 as is with no mot or tax, no rust anywhere, but rear quarters have had some paintwork in the past. Sunroof shows no sign of rust or anywhere else for that matter, ignition lock is a bit iffy as you sometimes have to hold key in start position until car has started, otherwise the car drives very well with no issues whatsoever. Aircon is ice cold, everything works.

Green 2.2 1997 Tiptronic £450 as is with no mot or tax, slight hole on bottom of downpipe around sensor, can apply liquid metal repair for MOT, otherwise drives well, Aircon is ice cold, everything works. No rust whatsoever in usual places, no sign of rear quarter paintwork either.

Blue Gen 3 Automatic £350 as is with no mot or tax. owned by my mother since 1998, mileage believed genuine, (see pics)failed mot a few years ago on rust at rear of cill, shame to break as it is a very clean car, now showing bubbles on front wings as well as rear arches.

Both Gen 5 cars can be MOT'd for £150 each, (just to cover any eventualities) manual car has extensive and full Honda Service History to back up mileage, tiptronic car also has some History, though I am having trouble finding it, including Original receipts.

All are original UK supplied cars.

The only reason I am selling these cars is that the Council is giving me hassle over the number of cars I have parked in my back garden so I have to get rid of at least 5 of them, I am not a car dealer and they are genuine cars.

Cars are in Uxbridge, Middlesex.

they look ok buddy but 5th gens are ten a penny at the moment granted one of them is a manual so will carry a premium but without mot they are worth not much more than scrap, I wish that wasn't the truth as I have a 5th gen but unfortunately it is.
There are so any issues with cars that have been stood for a while especially preludes they tend to sulk and have big problems if left.
The 3rd gen they are picking up in price but condition is the key and rust is a big issue as there are very few repair panels available if any. I think the price for the 3g is fair dependant on the rust

Thanks for your reply Mercuito, it amazes me that such a good car is of so little value which is why I priced them accordingly, fact is I could very easily MOT each of them as I cannot foresee any issues, if anybody was seriously interested I would do so making them £600 and 650 respectively probably even cheaper if I did not have to spend any money on them. I guess the next port of call would be ebay with no reserve as I cannot bear the idea of scrapping them.....

yeah buddy unfortunately the lude is only appreciated by people who have driven them they are still labelled with the old man car image that started from the 1g because they were Honda's technology platform and therefore expensive you can see how Honda tried to mimic styling from other manufacturers to boost sales ie the 4g is very Supraesque (if that's a word) and the 5g carries the Skyline "look".
Although I saw a Maserati pass me on the motorway the other day and was amazed how closely it resembled the 4g :?
Anyway they are priced well if they had mot's would also make it easier for someone to collect
