Re: the wifes EK civic - engine swaped
Time for a massive update I guess
first of all, I got a new steering wheel and it was worn and horrid ..

]so I sorted out the yellow ASAP lol

sorted
now for the embossed momo letters
frist went on with white

and then pink

test fitted and it looks great !!
but the yellow horn buttom would drive me batty..soooo
out it came and took it apart

got it, I didnt know what it would be like to try and remove the existing piant..

a plastic painted cover .. great
took me ages to scrape off

painted on a clear coat nail polish with a candy shimmer off it first

and then went on with pink

missed a few bits so painted everything black over I, and then painted the quick release to match

AND DONE

this photo doesn't do it justice, the shimmer is awesome
Now, for the more interesting part
the engine was removed.. again
the engine bay is absolutley mingin so we decided to take her off the road for a while and pay some attention to under the bonnet!

now that is a dirty engine !
i went on ebay and bought some 36% hydrocloric acid and used it 2 parts acid to 1 part water in a spray bottle and with acid gloves and a felt pad.
done a little bit at a time and also had a pressure washer at hand

its a rinse and repeat process but works well

i then went around the whole engine with a dremel with a wire brush attachment, but it was till not good enough

so got these

worked well ...
check this before and after

looks soo damn good !
also got myself a skunk2 inlet a few months back, here is is next to the standard one after the stuff was swaped over

cleaned and painted this too

yuuum !
got to work on the rest of the engine bits

dizzy before dremel

and after

and mock fitted some bits

cant wait to get that engine back into the engine bay !
Talking about that, started grinding down some of the bay today not that much.. more to do tomorrow

rusty eh ??

Re: the wifes EK civic - engine swaped
The engine thats been painted has only been fitted and removed once :p
The engine that was in before this one is now in a white ej9 in Dundee
The lude will be getting ALOT more closer attention to detail and im waiting on the right parts before I finish it

Re: the wifes EK civic - engine swaped
Thanks everyone
and you are right, its a project for me too, but everythig has been donnas own plans and ive just done the labour
And speaking of, heres an update
Didn't have time to get the engine bay preped and primerd before the harsh weather came and attacked the bare metal :/
but as soon as I had a good day me n a mate got stuck in and done the best we could before it rained again !

We smoothed it down a bit more and took the vin plate off for now,
I got the paint and base coat this morning and got battered in straight away

But, its not perfect, I have limited time and wasn't prepared to do a perfect job with filler etc etc.
so it was rushed.. still an over all improvment and the paint is wicked in the sun!
