Some 3rd Gen Wheels were diamond cut originally.prelude91 wrote:can someone explain the 'diamond cut' thing on the wheels. Would I be able to have my 3g sawblades refurbed in the same finish?
Basically the wheels is painted from factory and then they are CNC machines or diamond tuned so the front face of the wheel is baken back to bare metal. The wheel is then relacquered which obviously does not last. Lacquer cannot hold onto polished or diamond cut aluminium so it ends up chipping and peeling and then white worm.
If you take your 3rd Gen wheels to a specialist wheel refurb place that diamond cuts they will be able to do it.
I however do not recommend it. I hate Diamond cut wheels with a passion. They cannot be quickly repairs like a smart repair.
